Duxy of Domus
The oldest of all the duxies, the lands of the Duxy of Domus was established in the early 48th century by Mardux Seti Ochreslayer in an effort to unite local magocrats against the Drakes. Once encompassing an area around Domus Palus barely larger than the Duxy of Gunne, the Duxy of Domus is now the largest duxy in both land mass and population.
The Duxy of Domus is bordered on the north by the Lapis Amnis — the southern border of the Fens of Reur. The duxy is mostly wetlands, which are heavily cultivated for wild rice, which is the only grain that will grow in so much water. Despite its lack of mineral resources, the Duxy of Domus is the wealthiest of the duxies. Virtually all this economic power lies in Domus Palus, where the excellent natural harbor there has made it a center of international sea trade, especially between Aflighan and Kafthey.
Thanks to centuries of wars and heavily patrolled borders, no Drakes have established communities within the boundaries of the Duxy of Domus in several decades. Border towns established north of the Lapis Amnis have historically kept Drake incursions from the Fens of Reur to a minimum.
